It was an enormous pleasrue to hear from Andrej Godina today about the feedback regarding the last Umami Coffee Camp, organized by Starkmacher and Umami Area in Brazil. The Coffee Campus belongs to an international educational project called C.O.F.F.E.E. co-founded by the European Union.
The group spent 10 days in Brazil, San Paolo state, visiting plantations and had a technical coffee support from the Brazilian Coffee Academy, the training center belonging to Capricornio Coffees, where cuppings were organized for the visitors. .
Visitors also spent time at Fazenda da Esperança, the Brazilian partner of COFFEE Project that is working with thousands of drug and alcohol addicted young people all over the world. One of their 127 farms is a coffee plantation, nearby Piraju, where the Fazenda’s members manage a small coffee plantation. In the farm the students did the green coffee CDS module and planted 320 small coffee tree to enlarge their plantation.
In total, 23 young coffee professionals and students from 7 different countries visited Brazil to achieve a foundation coffee education and COFFEE Project also supported the fazenda offering to their members a brewing and barista skills course.
Andrej Godina said he hopes that this project in the future will continue to support Fazenda da Esperanca, not only in Piraju but also other locations. "Capricornio Coffees and its Brazilian Coffee Academy will always support this beautiful project as well", Edgard Bressani, José Antônio Rezende and Luiz Saldanha said. It is part of our commitment to social responsibility to help these interns who are trying to change their lives and try again", they added.
